Topics for 2012
Tudors, Anglo-Saxons and The Olympics
There are 29 Year 5 pupils and 30 Year 6 pupils between our classes. This year we are exploring the lives of the Tudors and the Anglo-Saxons in our enrichment curriculum lessons. We visited Kentwell Hall in September and experienced life there as it would have been in Tudor times. We are currently learning about the Anglo-Saxon tribes and will become tribe members ourselves. Everyone in Years 5 and 6 is looking forward to our whole school celebration about the Olympic Games in the summer, when the Olympic values and traditions will be explored through all aspects of the curriculum.
The Year 6 pupils enjoy special responsibilities, including being ‘buddies’ to help the youngest pupils to settle in and leading a charity games afternoon. We like to be challenged in all our lessons and even have the opportunity to prepare presentations and teach the other pupils! The teachers help us to develop our independent research skills and stretch our personal enquiry because we can ask as well as answer questions. Maple and Cherry are our stepping stones to our futures at secondary school.
