Bourn Proms 2017
In its 15th year!
Friday 16th June 2017
We have run the Bourn Proms, our annual music fundraising concert, for 15 years now, since 2002. This year however, it is the School’s 60th anniversary so we are ringing the changes, and instead of the Proms, thought it appropriate to round the celebrations off with a fundraising “60th Celebration Concert” in June 2018.
Last year however, on 16th June 2017, the ‘Bourn Proms’ was back for its 15th year. This popular event raises money for the enhancement of music at Bourn Primary Academy, which has an enviable musical tradition. In previous years it has facilitated the School Choir singing at the Royal Albert Hall and the O2, working with the English Pocket Opera Company, orchestra and choir workshops, a whole school Music Week, the provision of visiting musicians, and the acquisition of musical equipment, music and instruments.
Over the years it has attracted the attention of a number of professional musicians in addition to a wide variety of semi-professionals and talented amateurs, many being previous pupils. These, together with the outstanding performances of the school orchestra and choir, and individual children, provide an evening of high quality entertainment.
Last year we needed to boost our grand piano fund – we aim to raise £10,000 to replace our current one that is ailing and beyond reasonable repair. It has been in the school since it opened nearly 60 years ago, kindly donated by a local resident, and is an intrinsic part of everyday school life; used for assemblies, plays, orchestra and concerts.
Last year, Bourn Proms was supported and sponsored by the following local businesses. Please click on the logos below to reach their websites.
