Early Years at Bourn Primary
Welcome to the Early Years Foundation Stage at Bourn Primary Academy. We hope that your child will have a happy and enjoyable experience. Please find information below that will support you and your child as they set out on their educational adventure here at Bourn.
During our final half term in Class Acorn much of our learning will focus on ‘Bears’ and ‘Goldilocks and the Three Bears’. This topic will inspire us to look at different versions of the story, explore characters, story sequencing and role play. Through inspiration from the story we will learn all about bears and other animals that live in the woods, learning facts and creating non-fiction fact files. After discovering a crime scene and a new ‘bear’ in the classroom the children will become investigators and learn how to work collaboratively to ask and answer open ended questions about what they find. We will experience many woodland adventures in the Nature Reserve over the coming weeks where the children will build shelters for woodland creatures and dens to hide in. We aim to promote problem solving and measure where the children can compare and contrast weight, capacity and measure while solving problems related to bears eating porridge and sitting on broken chairs.
So – what a surprising end to the term! Thank you to all the parents who could attend our end of term celebration, the children thoroughly enjoyed sharing their wonderful achievements and progress with you and their teddies. The children were beside themselves when they realised that not only had their parents and teddies arrived to celebrate with them, but also, ‘Pudsey Bear!’ Thank you to Joshua’s mum who was able to organise this for the children.
