Bourn Church of England Primary Academy

School Uniform Policy

Uniform

Our uniform is a royal blue jumper or cardigan with a blue polo shirt with black or grey trousers (not jeans or leggings), shorts, skirt or pinafore. Trousers and shorts should be in a traditional school style and skirts and shorts should be approximately knee-length. In the summer, a blue checked dress may be worn.

Year 6 children wear red jumpers or cardigans and polo shirts. A red checked dress may be worn in the summer.

Uniform with the school logo is available from https://www.mapac.com/education/parents/uniform/BournCEPrimaryAcademyCB23 .

 We strongly advise, to ensure uniform is received in time for back to school in September, that orders are placed online by Monday 31ST JULY.

Similar items without a logo may also be worn.

Please ensure that all items of uniform are clearly labelled. Click here to order Stikins name labels and raise money for our school! Please make sure that you quote the school fundraising code of 2400 when ordering.

BUY SECOND HAND!

The BSA sell good quality second hand uniform, which we encourage parents to buy. Not only is this better for the planet, it is much cheaper than buying new! If you have any items of uniform you can pass on, or want to buy uniform, please email office@bourn.cambs.sch.uk

Coats

Children go outside to play in all weathers (except extreme wind, cold and rain). Please ensure that your child has a coat suitable for the weather, ideally warm and waterproof as they may get cold and wet otherwise.

Footwear

Shoes must be black. In winter months, boots may be worn, and these should be plain black and sensible for school wear (not Ugg style)

Socks or tights should be grey, black, white or blue.

On PE days, trainers may be worn, please avoid brightly coloured or expensive branded trainers for PE.

All children will need a pair of wellies or outdoor trainers that can be worn at playtime if the field is used and is muddy.

Jewellery, Watches and Smartwatches

Children are allowed to wear plain stud earrings only but should not wear jewellery of any other kind to school. Any exceptions should be agreed in writing with the class teacher. Children are required to remove earrings for PE lessons, so if they are unable to do this themselves, they should be removed at home on the day of a PE lesson.

Children may wear watches to school but these will also need to be taken off for PE lessons. Please note that smartwatches that are able to connect to the internet, play electronic games, take photographs or send messages are not allowed for safeguarding reasons.

PE Kit and Swimming

Children will come to school in their PE kits on the days they have PE/Swimming. The PE kit with logos can be bought from https://www.mapac.com/education/parents/uniform/BournCEPrimaryAcademyCB23 . Similar plain items without a school logo may also be worn. However, these must be plain and must not have any other branding or design on them.

The PE kit is:

  • a black t shirt, which should either have the school logo or be completely plain black (no branding or other logos)
  • a black hooded sweatshirt, either with the school logo or be completely plain black (no branding or other logos)
  • plain black jogging bottoms or blue or black PE shorts (no branding or other logos)
  • trainers

The Swimming kit is;

* a one piece swimming costume

* a towel

* Goggles if needed

* Long hair should be tied back

  Hair

If children have long hair, it should be tied back during the school day. Not only is this tidier and less distracting for children, it prevents the spread of headlice. If children don't have their hair tied back, we may lend them a bobble so they can tie it back.

Dress for the weather

We play outside whatever the weather (apart from extreme weather), so please ensure your child has a coat which is warm and waterproof - suitable for any weather.
