Year 4 – Rosewood Class

Welcome to Class Rosewood! We use this page to share our learning and to access online resources at home. One of the highlights of Year 4 is our residential visit to the Grafham Water Centre – we can’t wait to go! You can learn more about our learning this year on the Curriculum page.

Welcome to Rosewood Class!

Our Class

There are 30 children in Rosewood Class who are taught be Miss Ivory and supported by Mrs Lutkin. Mr Gawthrope teaches us PE on Mondays and Thursdays and Mrs Culley teaches us Spanish.

Our Curriculum

In Rosewood Class we have some great Humanities topics this year including Anglo-Saxons and Vikings, Climate and The Romans. We will have some great activities planned to go with these topics. We also have the exciting opportunities to go to the O2 to sing for Young Voices and go on a residential trip to Grafham Water!

Life in Rosewood Class

In Rosewood Class we work hard as a team to help each other to be the best we can be, recognising everyone’s strengths and supporting each other when there is a lesson that we can’t do YET. We know that we can achieve anything if we put our mind to it and relish new challenges and opportunities that we are given.

Homework & Spelling

English homework is given out on Mondays due in on Fridays. Maths homework is given out on Thursdays and due in on Wednesdays. Sometimes homework will be activities on Purple Mash. Children are also expected to read and practise their times tables daily.

We are expected to practise our reading everyday and complete our reading records. These should be brought into school every day.  Reading is such an important skill, we make sure we do some every day. We also enjoy class novels our current of which is How to Train Your Dragon. Reading and talking about what we have read is really important – lots of discussions about plot, language, structure and characterisation help deepen our understanding. This can be done outside as well as inside school.

Things to Remember

PE Kit is needed on Mondays and Thursdays. However, it is best if we have a kit available on our pegs all week in case the timetable needs to change
