Welcome to Bourn Bistro

This week’s menu for the week commencing 16.03.20

Bourn Primary is very proud of our catering service, Bourn Bistro, which was introduced in Sept 2012. Our kitchen was refurbished in the summer of 2014 and is capable of providing a hot lunch for all pupils and staff. Our food is prepared each day on-site and is top quality; we always try to ensure the following standards:

  • Food sourced from within 50 miles
  • Vegetarian option available
  • All food is colourant- and additive-free
  • Free range eggs and freedom farm chicken
  • Outdoor reared pork
  • Marine-steward fish

The fresh ingredients are delivered to the School daily.

All Key Stage 1 pupils receive free school meals every day.

Meals cost £2.30 per day for Key Stage 2 pupils and can be paid for on a weekly, half-termly or termly basis using the School Gateway payment system or by paying cash to the School office. Please contact the School Office if you require a School Gateway login or if you believe you are entitled to financial assistance.

Please look at the Cambridge County Council website to see if you are eligible for free school meals.

Our lunchtime regime has been developed to foster good table manners and a healthy attitude to food. It includes staggering the times children have their lunches by year groups, letting the children sit together at tables with tablecloths whether they have school lunches or packed lunches and giving the children the responsibility for clearing away their plates, bowls and cutlery afterwards.

At the beginning of the school year parents of reception children are invited to come and sample a school meal with their children.

During morning break, small yoghurts and cheeses are available to buy for 20p each.
